Within the pages, there is a universe.
Our story
Nukilan Biruni began with Aishah Manan and her collaborator, Mustaqim Jiwa. We wanted to introduce a stronger culture of emotional healing through poetry in Malaysia, bringing emotion and soul into writing while combining it with aesthetic art.
From the beginning, we believed that a book’s value extends beyond its content. Its cover, illustrations, packaging, production and overall feel should work together to create something special for the reader.
Through our books, readers can experience heartbreak, love, longing, healing and everything in between — a space to get lost in their own literary world and feel that they belong. We call these readers PEMIMPI, the dreamers.
The meaning behind Nukilan Biruni
“Nukilan” means writings, or expression through writing. “Biruni” draws inspiration from the Islamic scholar Abu Rayhan Al-Biruni, whose work included astronomy. That connection inspired our celestial identity: stars, moons and universes, close to the imagination of every dreamer.
Nukilan Biruni stands for being bold and dreamy — having the courage to dream, create your own universe, and live according to your own imagination.
